Sunday @ 2:00 pm - Development League
The Development League follows the Learn To Curl and will include graduates of the Learn to Curl and club members who want to develop their curling skills. The league fulfills two purposes:
- Graduates from Learn To Curl may continue their curling journey with the Development League. The league integrates them with existing members and gives an opportunity to play with experienced curlers as they would with other leagues.
- Club members can join the Development League to brush up on skills and have the opportunity to learn new skills. For example, someone who plays second can learn strategy and call a game so they can become a vice or skip when ready.
The Development League will provide strategy sessions, bring in club coaches and competition coaches, and provide new resources so that we can expand our talents and make the game more fun.
Competitive Level of this league: recreational.
This league is suitable for new curlers. Previous curling instruction, including learn to Curl at the Barrie Curling Club, is recommended.
Registration for this league will occur in two “waves”:
- A limited number of curlers can register for this league when registration for other leagues opens.
- Registration for the remainder of spots in the league opens during Learn to Curl. These registration spots are intended for Learn to Curl participants.
Junior players wishing to develop their curling skills should register for the Barrie Curling Club Junior Program instead of this league.
If unable to play, curlers are expected to find spares (replacement players). A spares list is available on the curling club website.
This league is subject to time clock constraints – depending on the pace of play, curlers may not complete 8 ends each game.
Curlers are expected to arrive 15 minutes before start time so that games can start early if ice is available.
League play starts in early December, after the end of Sunday Learn to Curl sessions.
